Re: Saturday am 6-13-09
Dan,
If I get out I'm heading to Big Rock Creek where it flows through Big Rock Quarry Forest Preserve. Jericho Road where it crosses the creek in Kane County. I'd be out there at sunrise. Probably 7 at the latest.
I doubt if the fishing will be any good, hasn't been that good in that creek this year. If you look at a map of the creek through there, there's another little creek that feeds into it just below the quarry. I hike through the woods on the west side of Big Rock till I get to that little creek. That's where I'll be starting.
The caveat is getting my ass out of bed. It's been a long two weeks. My mother-in-law has been in and out of the hospital twice and now in her second rehab/nursing center. Luckily, things are stabilizing and she's starting to get around.
It's Di I'm keeping an eye on. She's going nuts with worry about this.
So, best I can say is, we'll see. I fish when I need to relax, but sleep might be my better option.
If you have nothing better to do, the trip is worth it. Too bad the fishing has sucked on this creek. Scale down though and you'll have a blast catching big creek chubs and some rock bass.
Catch a bucket of creek chubs from the creek then go dangle them 25 feet straight down off the side of the quarry. I'll be doing that in a couple of weeks with my daughter.

Big Rock is 15 minutes from my house and I have to stay relatively close by. One of these days, eh?Dan wrote:A few of us are meeting at the DPR in the am so I thought if you were free:) I'll report when we get done!! Good Luck if you make it out!
Watch the water levels, don't want anyone swept away.

She's on her way down pretty good right now. Unless we get more rain I think we'll be alright!
