Fox River Les Arend FP

Post by Ken G »

I started thinking about how to use birds eye views to better give away spots on the Fox. It does do a tremendous job.

Les Arends Forest Preserve middle parking lot

The only problem I have is that they shot this at high water. The spots I would want to point out in this shot are usually quite obvious. Those of you that went on the Monster Quest might recognize what is missing. Rock bars. Describing it from here would make my job much harder.

I'll have to think about this.

Another thing that I noticed, is by moving around an area and changing directions or angles of view, sometimes you can catch an aerial which was shot on a different day, giving another view when water levels or seasons may be different.

Dan, I like the detail in the birds eye. I can mark those up nice. I tried what sparks said and you can tell there was a change, but still high water. Too bad they didn't do all the shots the year I opened my canoe shop. Driest year in history. River was flowing at 150 cfs in August.

That I could do a lot with.

Bummer.
Was just looking all up and down the river in birds eye view in the areas around Batavia to Montgomery. They were all shot at high water. Can't see any gravel bars.

I know the Batavia area, plus others up that way, like the back of my hand.

I guess I'll have to do it with both. The birds eye views do give some other details.
